Julian Demond Thomas (born November 5, 1993), professionally known as Julian Keyz, is an American recording artist, musician, producer, DJ, songwriter, entrepreneur, author, and entertainment professional recognized for his multifaceted contributions to music, business, and education. Known for blending R&B, Hip-Hop, and live instrumentation with cinematic storytelling, Julian embodies a philosophy rooted in creative independence, ownership, and innovation.

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Julian’s journey into entertainment began at an early age and has evolved into a career spanning music, dance, acting, education, entrepreneurship, and law.

Early Life (1993–2003)

Julian Keyz was born at Mercy Hospital & Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. During his formative years, he experienced significant personal challenges, including exposure to domestic conflict, bullying related to a speech impediment, struggles with weight, and other difficult experiences during his youth. These adversities shaped his resilience and fueled his desire for self-expression through music and performance, with Tupac Shakur serving as an early source of inspiration. Recognizing his potential, Julian’s mother enrolled him in numerous extracurricular activities, including sports, dance, modeling, and piano lessons. It was through classical piano training at the age of eight that his lifelong connection to music began.

Early Career (2003–2011)

During his childhood and teenage years, Julian gained recognition as a performer in music competitions and talent showcases throughout Chicago. His talent led him to become one of the original Chicago Bulls BullKidZ dancers, where he performed for three seasons, further developing his stage presence and confidence. A pivotal breakthrough occurred when Julian was discovered by talent coordinator Jane Jackson Harley, leading him to become a three-time Apollo Amateur Night Winner at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York by the age of 12. This achievement opened doors to performances at major events, community programs, and opportunities alongside notable public figures.

Julian also pursued modeling and acting during this period, appearing in national commercial campaigns for brands including McDonald’s, Coca-Cola Minute Maid, MTV, Disney, Nickelodeon, Burlington Coat Factory, and others.

By his teenage years, Julian began focusing more heavily on music production, songwriting, and recording. He signed as a songwriter with SESAC in 2010 and later transitioned to Los Angeles in 2011 to pursue expanded opportunities in the entertainment industry.

Career & Entrepreneurship (2012–Present)

In 2012, Julian founded his independent entertainment company and label VIBES By InNo (In No Restrictions of Creativity), establishing the foundation for his career as a fully independent artist and entrepreneur. The company has since grown to include multiple ventures across music production, artist development, education, and live entertainment services.

As a recording artist, Julian has released multiple albums, EPs, and singles, generating hundreds of thousands of streams and digital sales across platforms while maintaining full ownership and creative control of his work. His music is recognized for its fusion of R&B, Hip-Hop, and instrumental musicianship, often centered around conceptual storytelling and authentic personal experiences.

A classically trained pianist, Julian writes, produces, records, and engineers much of his own music, seamlessly blending technical musicianship with contemporary sound design.

Music Education & Authorship

Beyond his performance career, Julian has established himself as a respected music educator and mentor.

In 2015, he founded The Simple Music School, a music education platform offering both in-person and online instruction. Through this initiative, Julian has taught over 300 students piano and music fundamentals, helping aspiring musicians develop both technical skill and creative confidence.

He has also authored multiple instructional resources, including his Learn Piano Basics book series and digital music courses, which are distributed internationally through online platforms and Amazon.

His educational work reflects his mission to make music accessible, practical, and empowering for new learners.

Business & Live Entertainment Ventures

In addition to music production and education, Julian has built a successful career in live entertainment and event production.

Through his companies, he has operated a professional DJ and audiovisual services business, providing entertainment and technical production for weddings, corporate events, private functions, and large-scale productions. His experience spans performance, sound engineering, event coordination, and business operations.

These ventures demonstrate his ability to operate at the intersection of creativity and entrepreneurship — combining artistic talent with strategic business execution.

Academic Journey & Legal Career

Julian’s academic path reflects determination and resilience. During his youth, instability in his environment and life circumstances led to interruptions in his formal education, and he temporarily became a high school dropout. Committed to changing his trajectory, he later earned his General Educational Development (GED) credential, marking the beginning of his higher education journey.

He went on to earn his high school diploma, an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, and ultimately graduated from California State University, Northridge in 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing.

In 2025, Julian began pursuing a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree at Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas, with academic interests in entertainment law, business law, intellectual property, and litigation. In 2026, he was recognized for his advocacy skills by winning the Haley Catherine Shaw 1L Mock Trial Championship, finishing the competition 4-0 as an advocate.

His legal education reflects his long-term commitment to protecting creatives, building sustainable business structures, and contributing to the legal infrastructure that supports artists and entrepreneurs.
